How To Spend One Week In Corralejo, Fuerteventura
Corralejo is one of the most popular & lively towns in Fuerteventura, but has a surprisingly pretty laid-back feel to it.
Located in the north of the island, you’ll find plenty of things to do in Corralejo & a whole host of bars, restaurants & cafes to try!
In this post we’ll share some of the best things to see & do, including our own handy tips & information for your visit! Hopefully by the time you finishing reading you’ll be ready to plan your week in Corralejo, or even just get some ideas for a day trip from another part of Fuerteventura!
Is Corralejo Worth Visiting?
We definitely think Corralejo is worth visiting on your trip to Fuerteventura. It’s a busy town but we think it still has a really chilled-out feel to it!
If you’re someone who enjoys staying somewhere with a lively atmosphere & lots of cool places to eat or drink – it will be a great spot for you!
You can also pop over to Lanzarote on the ferry from Corralejo for a day trip which is awesome too!
When Is The Best Time To Visit Corralejo?
The awesome thing about the Canary Islands – including Fuerteventura – is that they have pretty great weather all year round, so you could hop on a plane anytime!
Corralejo will most likely be at it’s busiest during the peak summer months – from June – August. These will also be the hottest months when temperatures range from the mid 20s (°C), reaching up to around 30°C!
If you fancy a winter vacation to Corralejo, you can still expect warm weather & sunshine – more so around the low to mid 20s (°C). We went in December & we notice it got quite cool & even windy at night – so do bring yourself a jacket (& a hair tie 😂) for going out in the evening.
How To Get To Corralejo
Corralejo is located in the North of Fuerteventura, around a 30 minute drive from Fuerteventura Airport – the island’s only international airport.
We usually book flights via JET2 from Belfast as they have the best flight times for us, but you can also fly with Easyjet from the UK aswell.

– By Car 🚘
The easiest & quickest way to get to Corralejo is by driving.
We always use the website Discover Cars to rent a car for Fuerteventura. This site checks & compares all the different car rental companies in Fuerteventura to get you the lowest & best price for your trip. Tip: Always check the reviews & policies before booking!

– By Transfer 🚐
If you don’t want to hire a car, the next best option is to pre-book a shuttle transfer from the airport to Corralejo. Holiday Taxis are a popular option for booking transfers & you can book a return pick-up as well which is handy.
– By Taxi or Public Bus 🚕🚌
As far as I’ve read there is no direct bus from Fuerteventura Airport to Corralejo. However, you could get the #3 bus from the airport to Puerto del Rosario, then get onto the #6 bus to Corralejo. This is the cheapest option (under €10) but it may just be a longer journey with the bus having to stop. Be sure to check timetables here on the Tiadhe website!
The most expensive option will be to get a taxi when you get to Fuerteventura airport, which may cost upwards of €70 each way depending on how many passengers there are & suitcases you have!
Best Things To See & Do In Corralejo
1. Explore Corralejo’s Streets & Shops
On the main street of Corralejo there are plenty of different shops to explore, as well as an outdoor centre – Centro Comercial Las Palmeras. If you’re into surf-style clothing, you’ll love the Billabong Store, Quiksilver & the Surf Life Shop!
You’ll not be stuck for a coffee or bite to eat as you’re walking round as there’s an endless choice of eateries & bars to choose from! We popped in for a drink in Kerry Bar which is quite cute & Waterfall on Calle Iglesia was a good spot for a beer and to watch the word go by!
Make sure to take a walk to the harbour area & then along the waterfront promenade, where there’s a nice selection of oceanfront bars to stop in & have a cold drink with a view.
And of course – don’t miss out on taking a picture with the Corralejo sign located here!
2. Relax At One Of Corralejo’s Many Beaches
If you enjoy spending time at the beach, you’ve plenty to choose from in Corralejo. Accessible from the centre of town you have Playa de la Goleta, Playa de los Verilitos, Playa de la Corralejo Viego & Playa Vista Lobos.
3. Take A Day-Trip To Lanzarote
If you want a really cool experience, then why not hop on the ferry for a day trip to the nearby island of Lanzarote! The ferry will bring you into the popular resort of Playa Blanca & only takes around 25-35 mins. Prices for the ferry will vary depending on the day & time. Check out the Direct Ferries for times, cost & details!
4. Stroll Along Paseo Marítimo Bristol
This short coastal walk at the Northern tip of Corralejo, starts from around this spot & will take you all the way round to the harbour/port area. It only takes about 15-20 minutes to walk.
Along the way you can enjoy gorgeous views across the waves to Isla de Lobos & you may even be able to spot Lanzarote in the distance on a clear day!
There’s also some outdoor exercise equipment along the path if you’re in the mood to get moving! 😂
If you want to stop off for a coffee on your walk, La Ola Cafe opens at 7am! ☕
5. Hike Up Calderón Hondo
If you’re an outdoors enthusiast or even just a sucker for some great views, then we definitely recommend hiking up Calderon Hondo Volcano.
The volcano is technically located in Lajares, but we drove to the opposite side closer to Corralejo which took us about 18 mins in the car & parked here at Camino Calderos.
It’s actually a fairly manageable walk – I’m not great with steep hill but I didn’t find it too difficult as I remember! The trail is clearly signposted (we took the one up to the right) & it’s pretty flat (albeit a bit rocky) most of the way towards the ascent. It does get slightly steep just as you’re walking up the side of the volcano, but just take your time & you’ll be fine! It’s absolutely worth the views at the top!
6. Visit Grandes Playas & Dunas de Corralejo
If you are looking for a larger, sandier stretch of beach & don’t mind a bit of a walk or drive, we suggest heading out towards Grandes Playas (also known as The Great Beaches of Corralejo) & The Corralejo Sand Dunes.
Along this dreamy stretch of golden sand, you’ll find some stunning beaches to relax at such as Playa Larga, Playa del Rosadero & Moro Beach to name but just a few.
Make sure you don’t miss the amazing sand dunes that surround these beaches – you can park at the roadside – we suggest going to the dunes at the opposite side of the road for the best photos & experience!
TIP: Most of these beaches are fantastic spots to catch a sunrise in the morning or the sunset skies in the evening!
7. Catch The Ferry To Los Lobos Island
Another cool day-trip you can enjoy is to the neighbouring island of Los Lobos. This protected natural reserve is definitely on our bucket list for next time we visit Fuerteventura! Once there you can relax at La Concha Beach, or take a walk to the small fishing village of Puertito.
Naviera Nortour run 5 sailings a day from 10am with the final sailing leaving to the island at 16:30. The last return boat back to Corralejo is 18:00 so try to catch one of the earlier ferries if you want to spend more time there! The return trip only costs around 15 euro!
TIP: You need a permit to go to Los Lobos, which you can apply for online before you go (it’s free to do!) If you book a boat-trip or tour to the island, sometimes the permit is included in the trip but do triple check this prior to booking.
Where To Stay In Corralejo
ADULT’S ONLY: H10 Ocean Dunas ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is where we stayed at in December for 3 nights. & we wish we’d stayed longer! It’s right in the centre of Corralejo, just a stone’s throw from the beach & the main street. We booked a Superior Room with garden views & it was so peaceful. The rooms are brightly decorated, clean & spacious. The pool area is gorgeous as is the bar/restaurant that overlooks it. We thought the breakfast was lovely, with plenty of options for everyone! If you’re looking for a quiet spot to stay with an older crowd, this hotel will be perfect! BOUTIQUE: H10 Ocean Dreams ⭐⭐⭐⭐
We recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in December 2024. It’s also an Adult’s Only accommodation. We HIGHLY recommend it! We booked a Deluxe Terrace Room which was bright & spacious. The hotel itself is fresh & modern. Plus the cocktails at the hotel bar are to die for!

SELF CATERING VILLA: Bahiazul Resort ⭐⭐⭐⭐
We stayed in Bahiazul Resort in December for 7 nights & we really loved it. The villa was beautiful – you have your own small pool on the lower level then a jacuzzi & BBQ on the rooftop. Plus we felt really safe being in a secure complex. These villas are about a 40 minute walk into Corralejo, so do bear in mind you will probably have to order taxis or an uber to get into the main town. We had a rental car so it was grand. However there’s a Lidl & Mercadona literally across the road which was very handy to get the groceries in! Read our review of Bahiazul!
