How To Get The Bus From Palma Airport To Palma City
In this post we’ll share how to get the bus from Palma Airport to Palma City.

If you’re going on a trip to Palma in the near future, you may be wondering how easy it is to get the bus from Palma airport into the city.
On our most recent trip to Palma, since we weren’t hiring a car, we thought we’d give the bus a try!
We couldn’t believe how quick & easy it was to get the airport bus, plus it was much cheaper than getting a taxi or private transfer.
We’ve put together this quick post on how to get the bus from Palma Airport into Palma City, so that you know exactly how to do it yourself!
How Get The A1 Palma Airport Bus into Palma Centre
1) Exit baggage claim area
Once you’ve got your suitcase at the baggage claim, head out through the doors into the main arrivals area.
From there, take any of the nearest exits to outside the airport.

2) Head across the car park to the bus stop
Once outside, you’ll see a car parking area in front of you. The bus stops are located on the other side of this car park, just in front the large multi-storey building you can see in the distance.
Simply head straight across the main walk way through the middle of the car parking area.
Once you reach the end of this path & cross through the small set of traffic lights, you’ll find the ‘EMT A1 BUS STOP’ to Palma City just a few yards to your LEFT.

3) Buy your ticket
Right at the bus stop you’ll find a ticket machine from which you can buy a ticket for the A1 bus.
It was easy to use & you can even tap your card to pay.
A round-trip ticket costs €8 per person. A single ticket costs €5 person.

We recommend getting the round-trip ticket if you are coming back from Palma City to the airport.
You can also pay by cash on the bus, however just make sure you have the right change. You cannot pay by card on EMT buses.
When you get onto the A1 bus, all you need to do is tap your ticket on the machine as you enter.
Note: You don’t need to tap out when you’re getting off the bus if you’re using this type of ticket!

4) Getting off the bus
The A1 bus line from Palma Airport has 10 stops in total. You can check out the route map on the EMT website here to find out where you need to get off.
We also used Google Maps to figure out which stop to get off nearest to our hotel.
In the directions section on maps simply enter Palma Airport to ‘your hotel name’.
Then click on the public transport icon & click on the A1 bus route.
Google Maps will show you the route of the bus & tell you the closest stop for your hotel or accommodation.
There is also an electronic display on the bus showing the next stop, so you can keep an eye on it too!
Getting The A1 Bus Back To Palma Airport

Getting the bus back to the airport is really simple, especially if you have your round-trip ticket.
Our return bus stop was located across the street from where we got off the bus.
You can check on Google Maps again to find out where your return stop exactly is or look on the EMT A1 route map.
When you get on, simply tap your return ticket on the machine as you enter!
The bus will drop you off right outside the doors to departures!
Other ways to get to Palma City from the airport
Rental Car
If we weren’t getting the bus, the other option for us would have been to hire a car.
We always use the car comparison website Discover Cars to find the best deals. There are plenty of rental car companies located at Palma airport to choose from!
The only reason we chose not to hire a car this time was because we weren’t planning to leave the city, so we didn’t really need one!

We also read that you can’t drive on the inner streets of Palma without a permit & that you would have to find an underground parking spot outside the restricted area. So the bus was the best option for us this time.
However if you do want to explore the rest of Mallorca whilst you’re there, we would definitely look into hiring a car!
Taxi
Another option to get into Palma City is by getting a taxi, however do bear in mind it will be more expensive than the bus.
The taxi rank is located right outside the arrivals terminal.

Transfer
You could also book a private taxi or group shuttle via HolidayTaxis.com
