My Quick Review of the SkyLynx Bus: Vancouver Downtown to Whistler Village
If you’re planning a trip to Vancouver soon, you may well be considering a day trip to Whistler & wondering how to get there – especially if you don’t have a car!
The great thing is, getting the bus up to Whistler from Vancouver is so so easy & incredibly straightforward.
On our most recent visit to Vancouver in June 2025, we went for the day to Whistler on the bus, so I thought I’d share how we did it, who we booked with & some handy tips!
Which Shuttle Bus Did We Get From Vancouver To Whistler & Why?
We decided to get the SKYLYNX SHUTTLE BUS from downtown Vancouver up to Whistler, as it’s the #1 top-rated Whistler bus & has lots of brilliant reviews!
Their prices were super reasonable & there were a good variety of departure times to choose from. The pick-up/drop-off location downtown was also quite near to the apartment we were staying at, so we didn’t have too far to walk.
For reference: we paid $88 (£48) for two return tickets on Thursday 26th June 2025!
Our Experience Getting the SKYLYNX bus to Whistler From Vancouver
Honestly, our experience on the Skylynx bus was fantastic & we would definitely have no hesitations booking with them again.
We had pre-booked the 8am bus to get up to Whistler & the 7pm bus to return back down to Vancouver. Initially we were worried about coming back so late but actually we really put the day in & it gave us plenty of time to explore!
We arrived to the pick-up point (which was beside the Hyatt Regency Hotel) around 15/20 minutes prior to departure. On your ticket it will give you the exact address – I just put it into Google Maps and it was really easy to find.
The driver who was really friendly simply scanned our ticket on my phone & then we hopped on & took a seat. If you have any large luggage you can put it in the hold, but we just had backpacks as we were only going for the day.
The bus journey itself takes around 2 hours, but I think we arrived into Whistler just before 9am. We stopped off in Squamish for a quick pick up (but there was noone there lol) & then we had a stop of at Whistler Creekside as well.
If you are going to the main village, you will get off at the Whistler Gateway Loop beside the visitor’s centre, which is the main pick-up and drop-off area for most of the shuttle buses. The driver makes announcements for each stop anyway so don’t worry they’ll keep you right!
(Tip: if you need the toilet after the long bus journey, there are toilets in the visitor’s centre!)
Once we had finished our lovely day in Whistler, we just headed back to the same place we got dropped off (about 15/20 mins before scheduled departure) & the driver scanned our return journey ticket.
You’ll get dropped off in Vancouver at the same place you got on the bus!
Overall our experience with SKYLYNX was really good & we would highly recommend using them to take the bus up to Whistler from Downtown Vancouver!
They leave right on time, the drivers are super friendly & we found the whole process very straightforward!
Our Tips For Getting The SKYLYNX Bus
- GET THERE EARLY. I recommend being there at least 15mins before departure time to get yourself settled & onto the bus. In our experience the drivers leave right on time & not a second later so if you are late the bus may be gone! It will say on your ticket the recommended time to be there.
- PRE-BOOK your ticket! The buses can get booked up really quickly (especially in the summer months) so it’s best to pre-book to make sure you get the day/times you want. Always check the cancellation/change policies when booking as well.
- Bring yourself a coffee, water & some snacks to enjoy on the 2hour journey!
- If you want some great views on the way up to Whistler, sit on the LEFT hand side of the bus. Then on the way back sit on the right hand side – the very front seat is a good shout too!
